The HP DeskJet 1600C printer is a network-capable 600 dpi inkjet printer for DOS, Windows, and OS/2 environments. It's also a plain paper, drop-on-demand printer from the people who know inkjets. Equipped with Resolution Enhancement technology (RET) and ColorSmart technology, this printer can produce exceptional black output and more than 16 million different colors, including Pantone matched sets. Some features of the DeskJet 1600C include enhanced HP PCL 5 with color, automatic setup program, ColorSmart printer driver, bi-directional status feedback monitor, and TrueType screen fonts. Use the printer control panel in DOS or Windows for printer setup and configuration from your PC. Memory Enhancement technology (MET) allows most large, complex files to print within base memory. Easily upgrade to Adobe PostScript Level-2 language with an optional upgrade kit. Print at speeds up to 9 pages-per-minute in black mode, and up to 4 ppm in color through the use of the Intel 32-bit RISC i80960KB microprocessor and a standard 4MB of RAM. 3 SIMM slots allow for increased memory and an Adobe PostScript SIMM. It is expandable to 100 MB of RAM or install the PostScript SIMM and get up to 70 MB. The input tray holds 180 sheets of plain paper, or 100 sheets of film, while the output tray holds up to 100 sheets of plain paper. The network interface slot accepts all HP JetDirect print servers. Automatic language and I/O switching make it easy for your to print no matter what platform is connected. The 1600C will stop printing and notify you when a cartridge is out of ink.
